The Kirov Non-Ferrous Metals Processing Plant has commissioned a new bell furnace, which consists of four stands. The equipment will be used in the annealing of metal coils in a protective atmosphere.

Thanks to the new unit, together with the nitrogen and hydrogen stations, the mill will be able to increase the range of rolled products and improve their quality characteristics.

The upgrade is the last stage in the modernization of the mill's rolling capacity. Upon completion of the commissioning, the Kirov plant will be the first in the country to produce copper strip and plates up to 1000 millimetres wide.

Within the framework of the modernization, gas preparation equipment was also installed and engineering networks were laid.

Since the middle of last month, the plant performed hot-testing of the unit and conducted mode-testing. As part of these activities there was an annealing of the first charge, which consisted of four coils of brass, in order to get the mechanical properties in accordance with GOST.

After successful tests, the metal was unloaded from the furnace and sent for further processing.
