Russia donates 50,000 tons of wheat as aid to North Korea

Russia has sent 50,000 tonnes of wheat to North Korea as humanitarian aid. North Korea received the products as a country that suffered significant economic losses due to the typhoon.

According to media reports, a ship with the last shipment of 25 thousand tons of grain has already arrived in the East Asian country.

North Korea's foreign policy agency has pointed to the relevance of supplying wheat from Russia, since at the end of the last and beginning of this month the country experienced several "typhoons of unprecedented strength", which had a negative impact on the agricultural industry, which suffered huge damage. Moreover, it should be noted that cereals are the main export crop of North Korea.

In early September Typhoon Maisak struck Japan, South Korea, North Korea and Primorye, leading to widespread destruction and loss of life. Thus, in the eastern province of North Korea at least 2 thousand houses were damaged or completely destroyed.
