Russia's fish catch increased to 3.7 million tonnes this year

Fish catch in Russia has reached 3.7 million tonnes since the beginning of the year. This figure exceeds last year's catch for the same period, according to the website of the Ministry of Agriculture of the country.

According to Dmitry Patrushev, head of the ministry, conditions of the fishing industry were complicated due to the pandemic. However, despite this, it has been possible to increase the catch due to optimization of operation mechanisms.

In addition, as follows from the information for the second quarter, the volume of fish production increased by 17%, almost to 170 thousand tons, compared to 2019. The first in this segment are the Far Eastern and Northwestern federal districts, traditionally growing salmon fish species.

According to Patrushev, this year there was an increase in profits and turnover of fish organizations. He explained that this growth was conditioned, among other factors, by the governmental support. Minister reminded that last year we allotted almost 14 billion rubles for the development of fishery. This year it is expected to reach almost 21 billion rubles.
