KAMAZ to open new plant in Kazakhstan
A stone laying ceremony for the construction of the KamLitKZ plant, where iron castings will be produced, was held in the Kazakh city of Kostanai. Kazakh Prime Minister Askar Mamin, Head of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, Vice-Minister of Industry and Trade Alexander Morozov and KAMAZ CEO Sergey Kogogin took part in the event.
The new enterprise will be located on an area of 28 thousand "squares".
Once the plant reaches its design capacity, it will produce over 40 thousand tonnes of iron castings a year. Among the plant's products will be cylinder blocks and engine heads. These products will be shipped to KAMAZ.
The company will invest over $200 million in the project as a whole.
The new facility will be one of the most advanced among similar plants.
Earlier, KamLitKZ concluded an investment contract with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan and signed agreements with the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development Fund.
KAMAZ will train highly qualified personnel and cooperate with the Ministry of Education of Kazakhstan, the akimat of Kostanay region and the higher education institution of the region in research and development.
