Export of cat and dog food from Russia amounted to 79 tons from January to August this year, which is 72% higher than last year.

At the same time, in value terms, sales grew by 53%, up to $99m.

It is worth noting that the number of importers purchasing fodder in Russia has been growing regularly over the past few years. Thus, in 2017, the products were bought by 19 countries, and this year this figure has reached the mark of 27 states.

Belarus accounts for a third of animal feed exports - 20 thousand tons for $34 million, 20% of the products go to Kazakhstan and 10% to Ukraine.

This year, Russia for the first time began selling feed to Belgium, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Vietnam and the Netherlands.

There are plans to start supplying feed additives and heat-treated pet food to Hong Kong in the near future.

According to media reports, the global market for such goods is growing dynamically today. Two years ago, it stood at $91 billion, up 31% from 2013, according to Euromonitor data. This is due to the increase in the number of pets primarily in developing countries and the gradual replacement of the use of leftover food in the diet of pets.
