Fesco transport company will continue transporting cargo to Antarctica

Transport group Fesco and the National Antarctic and Ocean Research Centre of India's Ministry of Earth Sciences (NCPOR) have extended the contract for supplying Antarctic stations. A third expedition will take place later this year.

The voyage will last till April next year, the ice-breaking transport vessel "Vasily Golovnin" will be sent on its way. After leaving Cape Town it will deliver general cargo, food and fuel to two Indian stations and then will take out decommissioned equipment, domestic and technical garbage.

Specially on the eve of the voyage to Antarctica the ship was repaired and additional equipment was installed. Russian Maritime Register of Shipping has confirmed polar voyage for the ship. The company also got a permit to work in the Antarctic.

It is not the first time Fesco takes part in governmental projects for supplying Antarctic research stations in the USA, Australia, the UK, Chile and Argentina.
