Artificial intelligence is applied in agriculture in Russia

Stanislav Varich, Vice-President of Damate agricultural holding, spoke about the use of artificial intelligence and the plans for its further development and implementation at the enterprises of the group.

For example, at the sanitary gates of Europe's largest turkey slaughter and processing plant, which is located near Penza, a hand and access control system is used. More than 20 control points are equipped with facial recognition systems. If an employee processes his or her hands, the system gives him or her a pass.

In addition, approximately 520 poultry houses of the holding operate a system based on machine vision. This system monitors the employees' routine procedures around the clock. Particularly, it defines their correctness, time of attendance and pass in after-hours time.

This information is further analyzed by the artificial intelligence. If a deviation is noticed, the system sends a notification to the company's situation center.

The company has also introduced new technologies at the dairy complex in the Tyumen region. Here a special system is engaged in monitoring the birth of calves and the beginning of labor activity of cows. This equipment is already in operation in eight maternity barns which monitor more than 6.5 calves a year.

According to Varich, the company uses digital maps to monitor the field operations.
