The first nuclear submarine K-3 to be exhibited in Kronshtadt museum

The key exhibit of the projected museum of naval glory in Kronshtadt will be the first nuclear submarine K-3 "Leninsky Komsomol".

According to the organizers' plans, the submarine will be a key dominant exhibit of the new cultural institution.

Currently the submarine is located in the water area of "Nerpa" shipyard in the Murmansk region.

It is expected that visitors will be able to see such museum exhibit in 2023.

The museum complex will include a historical exhibition, there will also be space for temporary exhibitions and areas where lectures will be held.

Let us remind you that this submarine was laid down in September 1955 at Shipyard ¹ 402 under the name of K-3. Launched in October 1957, the submarine entered service July 1, 1958. A few more days later, she made her first move in the Soviet Union under a nuclear propulsion system, TASS writes.

"Leninsky Komsomol" is the first Soviet and the world's third nuclear-powered submarine, the lead and the only one that was built under Project 627.
