The share of Russian seeds in sugar beet crops will increase to 8% next year, said Djambulat Khatuov, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.
Last year this indicator was only 0.6%, but this year it reached 3.05%.
The sugar beet was planted at 630 demonstration sites last spring so that the agrarians could estimate the quality of domestic seeds and compare prices.
In fall, the planted seeds gave a high yield of high quality. Moreover, these varieties were endowed with ability to yield yield in certain climatic conditions.
Khatuov also said, in which regions the breeding work is at a high level - it is Krasnodar region, Rostov, Belgorod and Kursk regions.
This year, according to mass media, the yield of sugar beet in the country will be lower than last year. So, by October 30, almost 30 million tons had been harvested, which is about 15 million tons less compared to 2019.
