Russia intends to introduce new restrictive measures for importers of products

The State Duma has passed in the second reading a bill that obliges importers of agricultural products to pay for laboratory tests of samples and specimens of regulated products.

Currently, tests of foreign agricultural products are carried out at the owners' expense. However, these measures will be in force until January 1.

Initially, the deputies proposed to shift these obligations on importers only until 2023, but later it was decided to do it for an indefinite period.

Previously, the authors of the legislative initiative noted that producers of agricultural products in Russia are required to pay for laboratory testing of samples and specimens of regulated products at their own expense, even when transporting such products to a neighboring region.

Earlier Alexei Gordeev, the vice-speaker of the State Duma, said that the adoption of the law would eliminate a gap in the existing legislation. He thinks that if it is not passed, "our state will support foreign producers, not domestic ones.
