Russia exports 39% more barley in 2020

Russia increased its barley exports by 39% from the beginning to mid-December this year compared with last year's figures. The total volume amounted to 5.5 million tonnes.

According to the Agroexport center of the Ministry of Agriculture, the value of exports increased by 29% to $982 million.

Those grains, according to the Federal Customs Service (FCS), are destined for more than 25 countries. Saudi Arabia, the largest importer of these agricultural products, accounted for a significant increase. It purchased 2.7 million tons from Russia for nearly $500 million in 2020, increasing purchases by 2.3 times in physical volume and 2.2 times in value.

Jordan came second among importers of domestic barley. However, despite its second position in the ranking, in 2020 its purchases fell by 19% to 365 thousand tons (in value terms the decline was 33%).
