The growth of investments and revenues of Moscow investors in the pharmaceutical industry was recorded

The export of drugs produced in Moscow increased by more than 35% and amounted to almost 230 million dollars. This figure shows the volume of exported pharmaceutical products for nine months - from January to September 2020.

This was reported by representatives of the press service of the Moscow complex of economic policy and property and land relations at the International exhibition of export "Made in Russia". According to Deputy Mayor Vladimir Efimov, compared to the same period last year, the growth was 36.1%, which demonstrates the accelerating dynamics of investment in medicines produced in Moscow.

Revenue from packaged drugs increased by 67.1%, and it is this group that forms more than 60% of all pharmaceutical products exported from the capital. At the same time the total sales abroad are about 140 million dollars, and the largest amount of prepackaged drugs - 23.49 million dollars - was sold in Uzbekistan.

It was also noted that at the moment the Special Economic Zone has localized 7 productions of pharmaceutical products. Given that the total investment in pharmaceuticals amounted to almost 5 billion rubles, of which more than 80% is allocated to the residents of the SEZ "Technopolis Moscow".


Investments and revenues of Moscow investors in the pharmaceutical industry are growing

Large high-tech companies have invested in 2020 more than 4 billion rubles, which is 81% more than the previous year. The production area of the residents includes a wide range of produced drugs for cancer clinics, against diseases of neuropsychiatric nature, from various disorders of the respiratory system, as well as innovative products for muscle tissue and skin repair. The companies are engaged in the development and production of products for first aid and emergency medical care, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation, which is especially relevant today, as well as prompt restoration and maintenance of the patency of the upper airways.

The technopolis itself is positioning itself as a driver of Moscow's ultramodern industry which helps to develop a new ecosystem by providing opportunities for Russian enterprises to locate in the capital. In general, the residents of the SEZ over the past year increased the output of their products to 12,5 billion rubles, and this is a quarter more than the same period last year.

SEZ participants account for about 25% of all capital investments in the production of computers, electronics and optical products in Moscow. According to the assertion of A. Prokhorov, the head of the department of investment and industrial policy, electronic products manufacturers make up about 70% of the total number of enterprises. They are engaged in production of optics, silicon wafers, cards, panels, contactless chips and other electronics.

Currently there are 180 innovative technological companies concentrated in Technopolis "Moscow", 79 of which have the resident status. Investors have invested 36 billion rubles in their production, offering more than 7000 new workplaces to the capital. The project is implemented with the support of the Department of Investment and Industrial Policy and consists of several sectors: electron-optical, energy-efficient technologies, nanotechnologies, medical and information technologies. According to the estimates of General Director of SEZ Gennady Degtev, in 9 months of 2020 the residents of Technopolis invested 7,4 billion rubles.

Returning to the pharmaceutical industry, it is important to say that at the "Made in Russia" export forum there was a significant increase in exports of antibiotics. Demand for these drugs showed a 10-fold increase in sales compared to the same period in 2019. The main customers of this pharmacological group of goods are Belarus, Kazakhstan and Singapore. Exports of over-the-counter antibiotics increased by more than a third in 2020, namely 34.3%, to $10.68 million.

According to the press service of the Moscow Economic Policy Complex, the geographical structure of exports is most of all represented by the countries of the Middle Abroad. They are Uzbekistan with $31.78 million worth of purchases, followed by Belarus with $29.93 million, Kazakhstan with $23.81 million and Ukraine with $19.98 million worth of orders. According to the results of three quarters of last year in the top 10 were also African countries Nigeria and Congo. They imported human vaccines from Russia. Exports of pharmaceutical products for Nigeria amounted to 15.23 million dollars, and for the Republic of Congo - 7.69 million dollars. In total, pharmaceutical companies in Moscow made sales to 93 countries around the world.

According to Alexander Prokhorov, the goods of Moscow medical-pharmaceutical companies are gaining popularity not only in our country, but also in world markets. For example, the company "Moscow Endocrine Plant" presents its products already in 18 countries around the world. Exports of goods last year was 2.9% of total sales, and this year this figure has improved to 6.2%. Visiting the endocrine plant, Prokhorov made sure that the capital is fully provided with heparin drugs, and the company has mastered the production of a range of drugs for the treatment of COVID-19.
