KAMAZ intends to create a hydrogen truck and bus
KAMAZ specialists will begin to develop a truck and bus that will run on hydrogen fuel this year.
Creation of such vehicles, as it was noted in the company, is a promising direction in development of environmentally friendly transport.
Director General of the company Sergey Kogogin said that the R&D plan includes the development of a hydrogen truck and bus using the same fuel, weighing 18 tonnes.
He reminded that KAMAZ had already developed electric buses and after completion of research works, decided to put out a batch model. Subsequently, they were purchased by Moscow for the capital's routes.
"But we were initially engaged in nothing more than exploratory work. It's the same story with hydrogen - let us enter cities with batteries, but they are not adapted to long distances. Switching to hydrogen is a natural extension of the theme, but in Russia, a lot depends on the attitude of the government," he said on the company's website.
