The world's first Arctic logistics management system has been created in Russia

"Gazprom Neft created the world's first digital Arctic logistics management system, Kapitan, which has already started receiving information from the Umba raid complex in automatic mode.

The new module has made it 60 times faster to receive and record information about the storage facility's reserves, thereby increasing the efficiency of shipment of ARCO and Novy Port premium oil grades. The use of automated data recording is expected to increase the speed and quality of planning logistics operations and to enable online control over the transshipment of raw materials.

The Kapitan project was developed by Gazprom Neft specialists in order to ship Arctic grades of oil from the Prirazlomnoye and Novy Port fields all year round. It is already known that the use of the Kapitan has enabled the company to reduce the unit cost of transporting 1 tonne of Arctic oil by 15%.

The Umba storage tanker ships about 1 million tons of oil every month to ARCO and Novy Port. It also coordinates the vessels' approach to the storage facility, for example, the vessel regulates the movement of the shipper tankers that deliver Arctic oil to customers.

Now the system is capable to analyze about 15 thousand input parameters - telemetry from supply vessels and tanker fleet, data on actual and forecasted depth, vessel routes and ice drift.

Four times per hour, the system recalculates the schedule for tanker movements and oil shipments from terminals and selects the best solution among nearly 67 million options.
