Russians have bought tours around the country since the beginning of the third phase of the tourist cashback program for almost 2.5 billion rubles and received about 500 million rubles in the form of refunds, said the head of Rostourism Zarina Doguzova.

According to her, just a week over 100 thousand people used the program and booked tours or hotels. In the form of cashback they got back about half a billion rubles.

The head of the department told about three-fold increase in the interest of Russians in this program, compared with 2020. The growth is mainly due to the improvement of the situation with coronavirus in Russia, according to Doguzova.

"Last year there was a pandemic, many people did not risk going on a trip and stayed at home," she said, adding that now, due to a significant improvement in the situation, demand for holiday travel and the May holidays has increased.

Besides, the awareness of citizens concerning the program has increased significantly, and some people booked tours within the framework of the refund campaign for the third time, the head of Rostourism concluded.
