Zoom has restricted the use of its software for Russian companies with state participation, said the IT department of the Higher School of Economics, which received the service's refusal to extend its services.

The foreign company introduced the restrictions unilaterally.

This problem, according to the media, applies to all organizations in the country with state participation, including other universities. However, licenses remain free for individuals.

The directorate of the university said that in the last few months the negotiations on the extension of the service and the expansion of services were held both with Zoom Video Communications, and with the company's exclusive representative in Russia "Raitkonf".

The university explained that the extension of corporate subscription depends only on Zoom's position.

At present the main rivals of the service are American Microsoft and Cisco Webex, which give Russian customers an opportunity to hold unlimited video conferences.
