Four fish companies from Russia may start exporting products to Japan

Four Russian producers of frozen fish products Virma, Vladivostok Sea Fishing Port, Vostokinvest, Triera presented their goods to importers from Japan, according to the website of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.

In particular, the enterprises told their foreign counterparts about their work, the competitive advantages of domestic products and priorities in building supply chains in the Asia-Pacific region.

Petr Pavlenko, Russian Trade Representative to Japan, pointed out that now in the Asian country any goods can be sold, but on the condition of a quality guarantee, competitive prices and "the supplier's ability and willingness to work for results".

The online presentation was supported by the Russian trade mission in Japan and Sberbank.

Japan is currently one of the largest importers of food products in the world. Last year the country purchased agricultural food products from other countries for the total amount of approximately $60 billion. The main part was fish and seafood, meat, crops and fruits. Fish and seafood traditionally occupy a key place in the structure of agricultural products supply from Russia to Japan.

Last year, fish and seafood were among Russia's top five export items along with oil and gas products, timber and metals. At the same time, the Trade Representation forecasts further growth in demand for such foodstuffs as the economic situation recovers after the pandemic.
