Comfortable environment and business support will be the main tasks for the Acting Head of Vladivostok

Creating a comfortable environment, supporting entrepreneurs and developing human capital will be the main tasks of Konstantin Shestakov, Vladivostok's future Acting President.

"I will outline several areas that have been a priority for us, and for me as a native of Vladivostok... It is a comfortable environment, entrepreneurship and human capital development," Shestakov said.

In his new position, he intends to focus on making the city comfortable first of all for local residents. In particular, the team led by Shestakov will continue to develop public transport in the city, which was started 2.5 years ago by his predecessor.

He also called Vladivostok a city of entrepreneurs, and therefore businesses will be actively supported and systems of non-stationary trading facilities will be developed here.

Shestakov emphasised that the emphasis will also be put on integrated development rather than on infill construction. Particular attention will be paid to integrated projects that will create the necessary infrastructure, including pedestrian walkways and playgrounds.

Along with Shestakov, his team - assistants and specialists "who have firmly established themselves in the direction of control" - will also move to the Vladivostok administration.

On Tuesday, after inspecting a number of city facilities by Deputy Prime Minister and presidential envoy to the Russian Far East Yuri Trutnev and Primorye Governor Oleg Kozhemyako, Vladivostok Mayor Oleg Gumenyuk announced his decision to step down. Trutnev agreed with the need to change the head of the city, this issue was discussed with him by the governor. Kozhemyako said that the claims against the mayor were related to the delay of work under a single subsidy for the development of economic growth centers.
