Bashkortostan's foreign trade turnover grew by 14 percent in the first quarter of 2021 compared to the same period last year, amounting to US$1 billion. This was revealed by Margarita Bolycheva, the chairman of the Republic's State Committee for Foreign Economic Relations and Congress Activities.

"We've observed a record 72 percent increase in the volume of Bashkortostan's non-energy exports compared to last year. The breakthrough came at the expense of turbojet engine exports. The region's main export partners are China, Latvia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Finland, Turkey, Singapore, Poland, the Netherlands and the USA," she said during a meeting with the Government of the Republic.

More than 5 thousand enterprises have export potential. Working groups of the "Export Helpdesk" began to visit them for methodological assistance and advice. Business-sheriffs in the municipalities are also actively involved in the work, the administration pointed out.

Following the results of the meeting, Head of Bashkortostan Rady Khabirov instructed the republic's government to strengthen interaction with the Federal Customs Service and the Russian Export Centre and to start preparations for the working visit to Kazakhstan.
