Russia proposed to encourage electronics manufacturers to use Russian microprocessors

Electronics manufacturers from Russia have proposed to the Ministry of Industry and Trade (Ministry of Industry and Trade) measures to stimulate industry players to use domestic microprocessors in the production of computing equipment.

The initiative was put forward by the Autonomous Non-profit Organization of Radio-Electronic Industry Development "Consortium "Computer Engineering" (ANO "VT") and the non-profit association Association of Russian Electronics Developers and Manufacturers (ARPE), writes TASS.

As follows from the text of the appeal, the authors propose to introduce gradation of products, referred to the Russian computer technology, at the legislative level. They are offered to be divided into two groups depending on what processor is used in its production - Russian or foreign. According to the initiators, it will allow implementing a flexible approach to the use of Russian processors.

In addition, it is proposed to introduce additional benefits and incentives for manufacturers of Russian equipment on domestic processors: in particular, in quotas for the purchase of Russian products to allocate sub-quotas for Russian products on domestic processors.

Besides, according to the developers and manufacturers of radioelectronic industry, the government acts should stipulate that support in the form of subsidies for development of computer equipment can be provided only if the equipment is developed on the basis of domestic CPU.

It is noted that the right to subsidize the costs associated with the development or implementation of Russian products of radioelectronic industry should be given to companies with the share of sold products based on domestic microprocessors of at least 70%.
