A wine producer from Stavropol region won three medals at an international competition

Stavropol Winery Batrak has won three awards at the Eurasia Wine And Spirits Competition 2021, an international wine and spirits tasting competition held in Moscow, according to the website of the Ministry of Agriculture.

More than 300 kinds of wines, liqueurs and spirits were presented at the event. Less than a third of them received the status of the best.

According to Vitaly Batrak, the head of the winery, during the competition the strict conditions of the tasting contests have been observed - complete anonymity, not less than 70% of the foreign experts in the commissions, not more than 30% of the awarded samples and the electronic processing of the results.

Batrak chose three samples to participate in the competition, and all of them were awarded prizes. Thus, the wine "Perfect Classic Saperavi - 2019" received a gold medal, "Perfect Classic Merlot - 2019" won silver and "Perfect Classic Riesling - 2020" won bronze.

In total, the winemaker has over 30 wine brands to date. He grows a variety of grapes including Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir.

The jury was made up of experts from France, Italy, Germany, and Japan, among others. They evaluated the submitted samples blindly. It was noted that the Stavropol winemakers were competing with renowned producers from Hungary, Moldova, and the Czech Republic.

The maximum possible score was a hundred points. The Grand Prix was awarded to wines with a score from 96 points. The "Grand Gold Medal" was awarded to those producers whose scores ranged from 92 to 96 points. "Gold" was awarded at a score of 86 points and "silver" at 82 points.

The winners gained the right to place the logo of the award on the product label.
