More than 7 thousand small and medium-sized enterprises in the Tver region received state support at the peak of the pandemic in 2020, the regional government said.

"Last year, small and medium-sized businesses received unprecedented measures of state support. Largely thanks to the decisions of the President and the Government of the Russian Federation, as well as additional measures on the part of the government of the Tver region, stable operation of enterprises and preservation of jobs was ensured," the press service quotes Governor Igor Rudenya as saying.

It is specified that in 2020 more than 7 thousand companies of small and medium business from 44 thousand registered in Tver region, which work about 168 thousand people received measures of government support. One of the forms of support became loan guarantees, which allowed business to attract more than 2 billion rubles.

Last year the Tver Oblast Entrepreneurship Promotion Fund provided 341 loans to small and medium-sized businesses for the total amount of 590 million rubles. For comparison, in 2019 - 218 loans worth 335.7 million rubles, in 2018 - 135 loans worth 209.9 million rubles, the press service added.

In addition, according to the regional authorities, the stabilization of more than 5.3 thousand small and medium-sized enterprises was made possible by the reduction of tax rates for 34 types of economic activity. The tax on professional income was introduced for self-employed citizens, of whom there are over 11 thousand in the region - just like entrepreneurs, they were able to receive measures of state support.

In total, business representatives of the Tver region have received more than 8.2 billion rubles since April 2020.
