SMEs awaiting changes in tax legislation

The overwhelming majority of Russian entrepreneurs in the small and medium-sized segment supported changes in tax legislation. Such data are published in a new survey of the all-Russian public organization "Business Russia".

As TASS writes, 100% of the respondents stated the need to change the legislation in terms of tax compositions. In their opinion, the current version actually violates the presumption of innocence - it is difficult for entrepreneurs to prove their honesty, as the practice of a formal approach to the presence of guilt and "accusatory bias" has developed in the country.

"All this has a negative impact on the business climate and investment attractiveness of the national jurisdiction," according to Delovaya Rossiya.

The survey also revealed insufficient financial literacy of small and medium-sized businesses. This was stated by 76% of the participants.

84% of respondents reported that the tax returns are signed by the CEO, although he in most cases has no special education.

"The signatory of a tax return has no real opportunity to check the accuracy of such statements, which in case of incorrect data in it makes him the subject of a tax crime in practice, although in this case there will be no intent, but it can be ignored by law enforcement," concluded the head of the "Business Russia" expert center for criminal law policy and enforcement of judicial acts Ekaterina Avdeeva.
