The state should double the amount of funding for programs of individual economic development of the country's regions, up to 2 billion rubles. This was stated by Anatoly Shirokov, a member of the Federation Council Committee on Federal Structure, Regional Policy, Local Self-Governance and Northern Affairs.
"I would like to formulate such a proposal - to extend the program from five to 10 years and double the funding of the program for these subjects to 2 billion rubles a year," - quoted him TASS.
In his opinion, this would allow regions lagging behind in terms of economic performance to overcome their lagging behind.
It is worth noting that the head of the Federation Council Committee on Economic Policy Andrei Kutepov earlier also proposed to extend the implementation of individual programs for the development of regions from 2024 to 2030, and to increase the amount of funding instruments of support under them from 50% to 70%.
Recall that in 2019 the list of lagging regions included Karelia, Tuva, Kurgan region, Adygea, Mari El, Altai Territory, Chuvashia, Pskov region and Kalmykia. In February 2020 it was decided to allocate 100 billion rubles in stages to finance development programs for these ten regions, with the first tranche totaling 50 billion rubles.
