PCR boom detected in Moscow

PCR boom detected in Moscow

Medical laboratories in Russia saw record revenues from COVID-19 tests in mid-June.

According toKommersant, from June 14 to 20 the number of orders for PCR tests for coronavirus in laboratories and at home in some companies increased by 25-100%.

Also the number of tests for antibodies increased by 170%.

This high demand has affected the speed with which the test results are delivered - sometimes the results come back after the legally established time for the test has expired.

As market participants explained, the PCR boom is connected with two factors at the same time - the opening of new destinations for international tourism (according to the current rules, Russians must undergo two PCR tests when returning to the country), as well as the requirements of the Moscow authorities to visit public institutions.

However, they stressed that there are no plans to revise prices for services.

According to experts, the increased demand will continue over the next few weeks.
