Russian students won five medals at the European Physics Olympiad

The Russian team won five medals, including gold and silver, at the European Physics Olympiad. 219 schoolchildren from 46 countries took part in the competition.

The Russian team was represented by five eleventh-graders from Moscow, Moscow Region, St. Petersburg and the Sverdlovsk Region.

According to the results of the Olympiad the team has won two gold and three silver medals.

The national team was coached by teachers of the laboratory for work with gifted children of MIPT.

This year the national team was formed based only on the results of the last stage of the All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren in physics among eleventh graders. It was done so as by the final of the All-Russian competition the team for the Asian Olympiad was formed, which later turned out to be the strongest.

"That's why we wanted to give other eleventh graders a chance to prove themselves in the international competition. After all, until now, the final stage in the final grade only fought for admission without exams, and now, we hope, there will be an additional incentive", - explained the coach of the Russian team in physics, the head of the Department for pre-university training of MIPT Vitaly Shevchenko.
