EkoNiva started harvesting winter rye in the Volga region ahead of schedule due to the heat wave

EkoNiva, an agro-industrial holding company, has launched a harvesting campaign of winter rye in the fields of the Volga Region, the press service of the holding company informed the Made in Russia project.

As Alexander Anpilov, director for crop farming of the enterprise, reminded, there were prolonged rains in the central European part, while the agrarians of the Volga region, on the contrary, faced a dry heat, which allowed them to start the campaign already now.

"In about two weeks the harvesting of crops will start in the farms of the holding. Spring crops are performing well this season, there is enough moisture, full-fledged crop development continues," he said.

According to Nikolai Lukerin, the director of the Severnaya Niva Bashkiria production farm, the company is the only one in the holding which grows winter oilcake so far. Last year, this oilseed crop was tried for the first time, and this year we have already increased the sowing area, he shared.

"In the next two weeks we plan to harvest about 3000 tons of oilcake from 1600 hectares. Our farm is the first in the country and not only in the holding", - added the representative of the company.

The company representative added that the harvesting campaign in general is going according to the plan; the slight changes in the schedule are the result of different weather conditions in the regions.
