Rusal launched a large-scale modernization of an aluminum smelter in the Novokuznetsk region. As Kuzbass Governor Sergey Tsivilev explained, this will improve the environment in the region.

"We are launching the first phase of a large-scale project that will dramatically affect the entire economy of Kuzbass. This will be a new modern plant based on Russian technologies, with a high level of environmental safety," - the press service of the government quotes his words. The governor emphasized that taking into account all modern economic trends, such production is necessary not only for the region, but also for the whole country.

Tsivilev also said that the government of Kuzbass and the company's management began to implement the agreements reached in early June at the St. Petersburg Economic Forum.

It concerns completion of Krapivinsk hydroelectric power plant construction.
