The Russian Federation has tightened control over imports of pesticides and agrochemicals

The President of the Russian Federation has signed a law tightening control over imports of pesticides and agrochemicals. The document came into force on Tuesday.

Earlier, a list of 14 checkpoints was approved. It will be possible to deliver pesticides and agrochemicals now only through them - by four road and sea, and by three rail and air ports.

Specialists of Rosselkhoznadzor will supervise import of agrochemicals, in particular, they will control observance of rules of their production, sale, storage, use, as well as deactivation, disposal and burial.

In addition, the Federal State Information System of Traceability of Pesticides and Agrochemicals will be established, which will include all received data and will be used to keep records of batches of pesticides and agrochemicals, to monitor the reliability of suppliers' data.

Before 2011 such authorities were vested in Rosselkhoznadzor, however since 2011 imports of such products are no longer controlled. As a result, the Russian Union of Plant Protection Chemicals estimated that the share of counterfeit pesticides reached 30%.
