The number of bankruptcies among Russians doubled in 2021
In the first half of 2021, the number of Russians, including individual entrepreneurs (PE), declared bankrupt, exceeded 88 thousand. As reported by Fedresurs, this is 2.1 times more than during the same period in 2020.
It is noted that citizens most often initiate their own bankruptcy, as opposed to companies, where the applicants are creditors. "Debtors in the first half of 2021 were petitioners in 95.0% of proceedings (95.2% in H1 2020). Creditors initiated 3.9% of cases (was 4.0%), the Federal Tax Service initiated 1.1% of cases (was 0.9%)," the registry said.
The largest number of citizen bankrupts was in Moscow - 4858. The increase amounted to +98.0% compared to the same period in 2020, followed by the Moscow region (4701; +114.7%), Krasnodar territory (4310; +136.8%), Samara region (3923; +98.0%), Saint Petersburg (3825; +106.8%) and Sverdlovsk region (3537; +105.6%).
