Cleaning products exports from Moscow grew by 4.3% last year

Deliveries of cleaning products from Moscow to other countries increased by 4.3% to $148.2 million last year. Moreover, the volume of exports of these products has continued to grow this year as well, said Vladimir Yefimov, the Deputy Mayor of the capital.

He clarified that the main share in this segment is the household chemicals: in 2020, its exports amounted to about $102 million. Soaps, shower gels and wet wipes account for the rest (more than $46 million). Compared to 2019, the supply of household chemicals to foreign markets increased slightly - by 0.3%, while the export of soap, shower gel and wet wipes, according to the deputy mayor, increased by 14.1%.

In the first quarter of 2021, exports of cleaning products continued to rise and amounted to 5.4% ($39 million) compared to the same period in 2020.

Mosprom export support center said that last year household chemicals from Moscow were sent to 51 countries. The main importers were neighboring countries, including Kazakhstan ($45 million), Belarus ($29 million) and Kyrgyzstan ($5.3 million).

Israel, Brazil, Argentina and Turkey were also among the importers.

"Also among the interesting markets for active trade activities, our analysts highlight the UAE, at the end of 2020, exports to this country amounted to 185.14 thousand dollars, Vietnam - 147.48 thousand dollars and Saudi Arabia, with the amount of imports of 107.16 thousand dollars. Despite relatively low delivery figures, these goods are sent to the region in no small quantities, which means there is recognition, interest in the product and potential for growth," explained Natalia Shuvalova, General Director of Mosprom.
