Krasnodar Region has harvested a record winter barley crop in the last ten years. Andrey Korobka, deputy governor in charge of the agricultural sector, said.

According to him, the harvesting work has almost been completed - the gross harvest of crops has reached a record over the past 10 years - 1.1 million tons. The highest figures were recorded in Novokubansky, Vyselkovsky, Novoprokrovsky, Beloglinsky, Tikhoretsky and Timashevsky districts.

Korobka explained that the work was positively influenced by the hot and dry weather established in the region. "To date, we have reached the equator of harvesting - threshed 930 thousand hectares of fields. The gross harvest of grain exceeds 5.5 million tons, the average yield being 59.8 centners per hectare," he said.

The regional authorities expect that the grain should be enough to cover the domestic demand and ensure exports.
