In Altai the prices for "borsch set" will be reduced by means of fairs
Vegetable fairs will soon start working in Altai Krai. According to the Governor of the region Viktor Tomenko, the authorities hope to bring down prices for food and "borsch set" through their mechanisms.
"Our task, in addition to direct support of agricultural producers through government programs, is to try to create conditions for them to deliver their products to consumers, bypassing intermediaries through fair mechanisms, social fairs. That would help to bring the price down to the optimal level," he was quoted as saying by TASS.
At the same time, he explained that the price increase is largely due to the increased cost of the product. For example, preliminary estimates show that for potatoes it rose by 20%.
Let us remind that the day before at the meeting of the Russian president Vladimir Putin with the government the vice-premier Victoria Abramchenko reported that in 2021 the price of potatoes rose by 64%, carrots - by 86%, cabbage - by 43%.
Later, Andrei Turchak, secretary of United Russia's general council, suggested that fairs should be held in front of shopping malls to address the problem.
