Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov during his visit to the Hevel solar panel production facility in Chuvashia supported the idea to start producing pure silicon for solar panels here, according to the ministry's website.
"Today we have discussed in detail the creation of another production facility to provide the Hevel project with raw materials in order to produce pure silicon for solar panels. I think it will be very right to organize this production here in the Chuvash Republic," the minister said.
The Hevel factory is now operating in the region; it is the only full-cycle factory in the country that produces high-efficiency photovoltaic converters and modules with an annual capacity of 340 megawatts. Today the plant's products are among the most energy efficient in the world with an efficiency factor of over 23% and are in high demand in Hungary, Germany, Poland, and Switzerland.
