Turnover between Russia and Islamic countries increased by 30% in 5 years

Trade turnover between Russia and the countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has grown by almost 30% since 2015, Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov said at the summit "Russia - Islamic World: KazanSummit - 2021".

"In 5 years, the volume of trade turnover with Islamic countries has grown by almost 30%. It is clear that last year there was a pause. But in five months of this year (the growth of trade turnover was - ed.) plus 18% to the level of 2019. This suggests that we are discussing here not just some plans, not just wishes, but our cooperation is a really working mechanism, which includes dozens of projects: both investment and trade, and our business goes there, and business of Islamic countries actively invests in Russian business and Russian companies," - said Reshetnikov during a session of the International Engineering Cluster Forum.

The international economic summit of Russia and the OIC member states "Russia - Islamic World: KazanSummit - 2021" is held in Kazan from July 28 to July 30. The summit aims to strengthen trade, economic, scientific, technical, social and cultural ties between Russia and the OIC member states. The leitmotif of the Forum in 2021 is conscious consumption; the key topics of the business programme include partner finance, the halal industry, youth diplomacy, medicine, sport, creative industries, export development, entrepreneurship and investment. The venue of the event also hosts the Russia Halal Expo and the Mechanical Engineering Cluster Forum. In 2019, the summit was attended by 3.5 thousand delegates from 72 countries and 38 regions of Russia. This year, more than 2.5 thousand people from 60 countries are participating in the summit.
