Imports of halal products worldwide will reach $30 billion in 2020

Imports of halal products worldwide have exceeded $30 billion in 2020, said Artem Malkhasyan, deputy director of the department of international cooperation and export development of agro-industrial products of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture.

"The market of halal products is growing every year, in 2020, imports of halal products in the world amounted to more than $30 billion. For us it is a sufficiently capacious market, which is of interest, a significant share of exports are halal products. In the world, the main types of imports of Halal products are meat, dairy products, finished food products, confectionery products. In this group of products the Russian Federation can adequately compete with other producers of this product," - said Malkhasyan at summit "Russia - the Islamic world: KazanSummit - 2021".

According to him, the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia is actively working to promote Russian halal products in Africa, the Persian Gulf and Southeast Asia. In addition, Russia is cooperating with Indonesia and Malaysia, which are large consumers of halal products.

Russia - Islamic World: KazanSummit - 2021" International Economic Summit of Russia and the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is held in Kazan from July 28 to July 30. The summit aims to strengthen trade, economic, scientific, technical, social and cultural ties between Russia and the OIC member states.

The leitmotif of the Forum in 2021 is conscious consumption; the key topics of the business programme include partner finance, the halal industry, youth diplomacy, medicine, sport, creative industries, export development, entrepreneurship and investment. The event also hosts the Russia Halal Expo and the Mechanical Engineering Cluster Forum.

In pre-crisis 2019, the summit was attended by 3.5 thousand delegates from 72 countries and 38 regions of Russia. This year, more than 2,500 people from 60 countries are participating in the summit.
