Tatarstan is interested in implementation of joint projects with Turkish colleagues and development of Turkish business in the region, President of the Republic Rustam Minnikhanov said at the meeting with Minister of Trade of Turkey Mehmet Mush.

As the region's leader stressed, Turkey is one of Tatarstan's main foreign partners: this country's investments in the republic's economy amount to about two billion dollars.

"Our republic is interested in seeing Turkish businesses expand their economic projects in Tatarstan. For our part, we will do everything necessary for the further active work of Turkish investors," Minnikhanov said on his official website.

In addition, local companies of the petrochemical and machine building industries are now considering the possibility of investment projects in Turkey, the President said.

Mehmet Mush called projects of the republican enterprises valuable, and noted that the Turkish side will make every effort for their successful implementation.

According to the Minister, before the pandemic the trade turnover between Tatarstan and Turkey exceeded 480 million USD, but last year the volume of mutual trade dropped to 360 million USD.

"I think that in the short term we will be able to catch up and reach a volume of 1 billion dollars. There are about 60 of our companies operating in Tatarstan today," he said.
