In 2021, Russia may overtake Switzerland in chocolate exports, according to the Association of Confectionery Companies. This was reported by the Association of the confectionery industry "Askond".

"At the end of the first quarter of 2021 Russian exports of chocolate and chocolate products increased by 18.6% by volume and 11.8% by value compared to the same period last year. Taking into account the current dynamics the association experts forecast that by the end of 2021 the Russian producers will outpace the Swiss exports of chocolate and chocolate confectionery," the company said.

It is noted that in 2020, Russia ranks 11th in the world ranking of exporters of chocolate products with the export of 295.7 thousand tons, worth $729.2 million. Switzerland is in the 10th place - 109.8 thousand tons, worth $ 753 million.

Recall, at present, Russia exports confectionery to 94 countries around the world. However, 48% of confectionery products are imported to markets of the EEU.
