Online grocery shopping increased by 174%
In Russia, online food sales grew 174% year on year in the first half of 2021. According to the latest data of consulting company DataInsight, the amount of spending amounted to 149 billion rubles.
Analysts counted that in the first half of the year 118 million orders were placed at online stores, which are included in Top 1,000. It is 268% more than last year. The average bill was 1,260 rubles, which is 26% lower than last year, although the total amount of online sales increased by 174%.
The leader in the category was VkusVill, which accounted for 14% of all purchases. The second place went to Sbermarket, while the third place went to Samokat.
We note that among online food retailers included in TOP-1000 online retailers, 70% are registered in Moscow and Moscow Region. St. Petersburg and "non-destiny" regions account for 12% each.
European part of Russia, 7% - in total in the Urals and Asian part of Russia.
