Russia's largest marketplace Wildberries has introduced a 2% discount for customers paying by cards of national payment systems - Mir, System of Quick Pay (SBS) and SberPay. As a result, consumer savings due to online retailing per day amounted to almost 40 million rubles, said Maria Zhivykh, deputy GR director of the online retailer.

"Staying within the current regulation, Wildberries provided a discount to its customers using national payment systems - Mir, SBP, SberPay - on the entire catalog of goods - minus 2%. To make you understand, it is 188 million goods, of which 50% of goods - Russian sellers, and about 80% - small and medium-sized businesses. The discount is provided entirely at the expense of our company, and those buyers who are holders of international payment systems, the price remains the same, "- said Zhivykh during the New Retail Forum.

The representative of the company noted that the effect of the innovation was quite noticeable and fast - literally for the first two weeks, "Mir" came in fifth place in popularity on the online site, the growth of payments was 52%. At the same time, there was a 2.8x increase in payments using SBPs.

"The total savings for our customers per day due to this discount is about 40 million rubles. We hope that our example will not be repeated in the market, that other online retailers will support our experience when they see this efficiency", - she noted.

Earlier the international payment systems Visa and Mastercard accused Wildberries of adding an additional commission of 2% when paying with their cards. In response, the retailer explained that such a commission has always existed, the marketplace only began to display it to customers, making the payment "transparent". The decision to introduce a discount for payment by Russian Mastercard and Visa cards was also met with criticism, in particular, Visa sent a letter to the retailer's acquiring banks, saying that it was a violation of the payment system's rules. Wildberries has accused foreign payment systems of threatening Russian banks over fees on the platform.
