Business in Primorye earned 1.5 billion rubles during WEF-2021

Entrepreneurs from the tourism and related industries in Primorsky Territory earned about 1.5 billion rubles during the days of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF-2021), the regional government said.

"It is important for us that the WEF is an event to promote Vladivostok and Primorsky Territory, to attract investment, including in the tourism infrastructure," said Vladimir Shchur, head of the regional agency for tourism.

He noted that due to closed borders and a decline in the inbound tourist flow, the tax return from tourism in the region decreased from 5.1 billion rubles in 2019 to more than 1 billion in 2020. At the same time, the flow of tourists from other regions of Russia is growing.

"In the past few months of this year alone, about 1.1 million people, mostly domestic tourists, visited Primorsky Krai. This is more than double the number of tourists who visited the region during the same period last year. A total of 970,000 people visited Primorye in 2020," Shchur said,

Earlier, it was reported that the total amount of agreements within the framework of the Eastern Economic Forum - 2021 was 3.6 trillion rubles.

The Eastern Economic Forum was held in Vladivostok from the second to fourth of September. The main theme of the event was "New Opportunities for the Far East in a Changing World". The forum is organised by the Roscongress Foundation.
