Rostov region will increase the volume of energy generation from renewable energy sources

The Rostov Region intends to increase the share of energy from renewable sources in the consumption structure to 10.1% by 2022. This was announced by Igor Sorokin, the region's Deputy Governor.

"The share of energy derived from renewable sources in the consumption structure of the Rostov region should reach 8.2% in 2021, in 2022 it is planned to reach 10.1%," TASS quoted him as saying.

It is planned to build wind power plants with total capacity of more than 700 MW in the region by 2024. Investments into the sphere will amount to over 70 billion rubles.

Recall, the first wind farms in the Rostov region were put into operation in 2020 in the Krasnosulinsky and Kamensky districts, their total capacity was 350 MW.

In 2020, the region took the first place by installed wind generation capacity among the constituent entities of the Russian Federation.
