Russia and Africa have created the consortium "Russian-African Network University". (RAFU), uniting 12 Russian universities and research centers with experience of cooperation with the countries of the African continent, said Afrocom.
"The establishment of the Russian-African Network University will contribute to strengthening cooperation in education, science and economic development between our country and the states of the African continent. In addition, RAFU is a kind of bridge of friendship for students of Russia and Africa," said Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov.
According to him, the priority objectives of RAFU will be the creation of a unified educational and scientific space, development of mechanisms for the development of academic and student mobility, as well as facilitation of intercultural dialogue and mutual enrichment of cultures and languages.
It is specified that the educational model of RAFU will work as a unified pool of courses and disciplines in Russian, English and French, available to the consortium participants. The same courses will form the basis of joint educational programs.
The RAFU members at the initial stage included the Southern Federal University, Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University, V.I. Vernadsky Crimean Federal University, Astrakhan State Medical University, Russian State Hydrometeorological University, National Research University "MPEI", Moscow State University of Food Industry, Russian State Geological Exploration University named after Sergo Ordzhonikidze, Russian State University of Humanities, Russian State University of Oil and Gas, Moscow State Technical University named after M.V. Lomonosov, Russian State University of Oil and Gas named after A.V. Lomonosov, and others. A.N. Kosygin (Technology. Design. Art), A.S. Pushkin State Institute of Russian Language, A.O. Kovalevsky Institute of Biology of Southern Seas, Russian Academy of Sciences.
