Three new SEZs will appear in the Orenburg, Smolensk and Ivanovo regions

New three special economic zones (SEZ) of industrial-production type will appear in the Orenburg, Smolensk and Ivanovo regions, the Russian Ministry of Economic Development said.

"Creation of special economic zones is not only new opportunities for the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, but also the personal responsibility of regional heads. New SEZs and ASEZs (territories of advanced development - ed.) should become the basis for creating additional points of economic growth, bringing new taxes to the regions, and giving new well-paid jobs to those who live in these territories," said Yury Trutnev, Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District.

As specified in the ministry, the SEZ "Orenburzhye" will be located in two cities of the Orenburg region - Orenburg and Orsk. The SEZ will be managed by the region itself. The investment portfolio includes eight projects, including the creation of production of lithium titanium batteries, a transport and logistics terminal, a plant for the production of drilling equipment and others. By 2030, residents of the special economic zone "Orenburzhye" plan to create over 900 jobs and attract almost 9 billion rubles of private investment.

In Smolensk region, the SEZ will be created on the territory of the largest customs-logistics terminal "Stabna". Six projects are to be implemented under the SEZ, including methanol production, off-road vehicles, peat processing and others. There are plans to create over 600 jobs and attract 10.6 billion rubles of investment by 2030.

In the Ivanovo region, the new SEZ will appear on the sites in Ivanovo and Rodniki. The management company of the private industrial park "Rodniki", which has experience in building industrial infrastructure and working with domestic and foreign investors, is planning to manage the SEZ. Five light industry investment projects have been announced within the SEZ at the initial stage with the total investment of RUB8.3 billion. The implementation of the projects will make it possible to create 3.2 thousand jobs.

In addition, the government has approved the expansion of the list of economic activities of the residents of the Special Economic Zone "Yemva" in Komi. The changes will make it possible to attract more than 371 million roubles of additional investment.
