Moscow Processed Cheese Plant "Karat" has started the construction of the first regional production complex in the Advanced Economic Development Zone in Togliatti. The volume of investments into the project will amount to more than 10 billion rubles.

"Today there are about 240 food industry enterprises working in Moscow, among them is the processed cheese plant "Karat" - one of the largest manufacturers of dairy products in the city. This year the enterprise has received the status of an industrial complex, which gives him a number of tax incentives and allows you to invest the saved funds in the further development of its production sites", - said Vladimir Yefimov, the Deputy Mayor of the capital.

New enterprise for the production of cheese, the area of which will be 27.4 thousand square meters, will process more than 800 tons of milk per day and about 290 thousand tons per year. It will produce semi-hard and cottage cheese, curd cheese and granulated cottage cheese. It is planned to be put into operation in the second quarter of 2023.

"Moscow plant "Karat" is one of the three largest producers of processed cheese in Russia. In May 2021, the billionth batch of Druzhba cheese, the recipe of which was developed back in 1960, came off its conveyor belt. Today, its products are supplied all over the country," said the head of the capital's Department of Investment and Industrial Policy Alexander Prokhorov.

He added that the enterprise actively develops export direction. Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan are among its foreign trade partners, and the company expects to enter the markets of Georgia, Tajikistan, and Mongolia in the nearest future.

Director General Evgeniy Grebnev said that after launching the new production "Karat" plans to enter top 5 producers of semi-hard cheeses in Russia. In particular, due to the new plant's capacities, the share of Violette curd cheese will increase. Besides, the site will make it possible to expand sales geography of the "Karat Domashniy" grain cottage cheese, having established its delivery to all Russian regions.
