Domestic company R-Pharm has started producing a vaccine against coronavirus infection under license from Oxford University and AstraZeneca, said Vasily Osmakov, first deputy head of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The drug is intended exclusively for export, he added.

"Foreign vaccines are already produced in Russia. AstraZeneca is produced at R-Pharm under export contracts," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

According to the Deputy Minister, Russia is currently fully provided with its own products. "Anything is possible in the future, especially in the future, but here and now, riding the wave of rush demand, we are working with our own production facilities and supporting our own pharma," he added.

Earlier, the Russian Direct Investment Fund said that AstraZeneca's First in the World combination of two drugs from COVID-19 and the first component of Russia's Sputnik V vaccine does not cause serious side effects.
