PepsiCo will launch a new production line in the Moscow region

American multinational company PepsiCo has started expanding production of its subsidiary Frito Lei Manufacturing in Kashira, Moscow Region. As part of the investment project, a new production line for DORITOS chips will be launched at the plant, the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Science of the Moscow Region said.

"The volume of investments in the expansion of the PepsiCo plant in Kashira will exceed 1.5 billion rubles. The company will build production and storage facilities with a total area of about 9 thousand square meters, and the total area of the enterprise will be 52 thousand square meters. The investor plans to launch a new line to produce chips in the fourth quarter of 2022", - said Ekaterina Zinovieva, the Head of the Ministry.

According to her words, realization of the PepsiCo project will have a synergy effect. The company buys raw materials for snacks production from Russian suppliers, including those from the Moscow region - for example, from Kashira, Stupino and Kolomna municipal districts. Thus, Frito Lei Manufacturing plant capacity increase will create conditions for additional development of supplying companies, - said Zinovieva.

The department reminded that the plant in Kashira was opened back in 2002 and was the first PepsiCo enterprise producing snacks in Russia. Today they produce about 130 thousand tons of ready made products per year and sell 200 kinds of salty snacks including Lay's, Cheetos, HrusTeam. About 1 thousand people work at the plant. The company has ten production lines and is the largest snack factory in the world.
