Russia extends counter-sanctions until the end of 2022

Russian President Vladimir Putin has extended counter-sanctions until 31 December next year. The document was published on the official portal of legal information.

It is a food embargo which was introduced in 2014 in response to sanctions against Russia.

It follows from the document that the government should ensure the implementation of the document, and, if necessary, make proposals to change the duration of the counter-sanctions.

As part of the counter-sanctions, Russia banned the import of a number of types of agricultural goods, raw materials and food from the countries that imposed sanctions against Russia. In particular, the food embargo affected meat, sausages, fish and seafood, vegetables, fruit and milk products.
