Automobile manufacturer Kamaz is considering launching a new plant in Russia to produce Kama-1 electric cars, Deputy Head of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade Alexander Morozov said.

He reminded that Kamaz already has experience in producing electric-powered vehicles, RIA Novosti news agency reported.

"Kamaz already has experience in producing electric buses, and they are discussing the launch of the plant in 2024-2025. "I must say that today Moscow is the main interest and driver of this process," Morozov said, adding that we are talking about a plant specifically for the Kama-1.

He pointed out the strong size differences between the small car and the big Kamaz.

"In the near future we will follow with interest the news from the company, they are now waiting for the shareholders' decision and will decide on the site. I think it will be a small plant, production of electric cars is a very compact story," concluded the Deputy Minister.
