Verification of climate projects will start in Russia in 2022. This was announced by Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov.

"Already in 2022, we will be able to start the process of verification of climate projects according to Russian standards. These standards are made on the basis of internationally recognized standards," he said.

It is known that verification will take place according to domestic standards, which were developed on the basis of international experience. It is expected that this will allow to assign the status to carbon projects.

Rosstandart will approve all processes related to verification of climate projects by mid November this year. From the end of 2021, it will be possible to accredit bodies for the verification and validation of greenhouse gases.

By way of reminder, starting from 2023, the European Union will impose a carbon tax on imported products with high emission of greenhouse gases. According to experts, it may affect about 40% of Russian exports.
